Introduction

My name is Denver Shrock. I spent most of my life in Colorado before moving to California and then to Tennessee. I have been involved with computers for over 30 years. I am currently seeking a new opportunity after being laid off recently. I have provided a link at the end of my bio to download my resume.

Technical Career Journey

Education:

I attended Westwood College in Denver, Colorado, beginning in June 2003. While working full-time, I completed my Associate of Applied Science degree in Computer Network Engineering in December 2004, taking a full course load. After that, I shifted my focus to Information Systems Security and started working on my Bachelor of Science degree in January 2005. I finished this program and graduated in May 2006. Balancing full-time work with a rigorous college schedule was challenging, but it allowed me to gain valuable skills and experience in both fields of information technology over the course of three years.

Early Years: Computer Sales and Repairs

My tech career began in 1995 at a computer repair store. I quickly advanced from sales to computer upgrades and repairs. By 1997, I expanded my skills to include printer repairs, working on popular brands like HP, Canon, and Lexmark.

Expanding Expertise:

In 2002, I started servicing Xerox copiers, which required extensive knowledge of both copiers and networking. 2004 brought an opportunity at Maxtor Corp., where I provided desktop support for various hard drive types.

Healthcare IT:

I joined Kaiser Health in 2007 as part of their computer refresh team, transitioning from Dell to HP systems. Later, I moved to the help desk, supporting local administration offices and clinics.

Data Center and Corporate IT:

in 2009, I worked at a medical office data center, gaining experience with virtual environments and VPNs.
At Goodrich Co. 2010 - 2015 I provided comprehensive IT support, including hardware, software, printers, and the PBX phone system.

Systems Administration:

My first true Systems Administrator role began in 2015 at a dialysis machine manufacturing plant.
In 2017, I joined a large California County, supporting Citrix and later Azure during the COVID-19 pandemic. I also managed RiteFax, FTP, and VMware systems.

Recent Role:

In 2022, I was working for a government subcontractor, continuing my Systems Administrator support and knowledge. This 30-year journey showcases my growth from computer sales to advanced systems administration, highlighting my adaptability and continuous learning in the ever-evolving tech industry.
